- Both films have aspects of horror and create a tense atmosphere once you watch it. Yet "Split" is a thriller and "Rings" is a horror drama which have different aspects but can be similar in a way. Both audiences are adults, the % of children watching both films is nil. This shows that the context of the films are very strong for children to watch, so the intended audience for both films is adults. Teenagers also tend to appear as the intended audience, on the film "Split" teenagers have the percentage of 38 and for the film "Rings" teenagers have the percentage of 59%, which shows the high interest of teenagers for horror movies. Horror movies tend to be really interesting because it has many different things happening at the same time, so it makes the audience wonder where they should be focusing. Teenagers tend to be interested in different things all the time. The film "Split" does not have a very high percentage of teenagers and adults yet "Rings" does. Also the gender for both films is very different which shows different expectations and different tastes from the intended audience. 67% of the males went to watch "Split" perhaps because the main character is a man, so it would attract males rather than females. Yet 33% of females went to watch "Split" which shows the different tastes. I believe that Universal pictures intended audience would be males but yet they also captured female attention towards their film however 56% of females have watched "Rings" and 44% males also watched rings, again I believe it is linked to the context of the movie and who the main character is. The main character being a female, attracts females to watch the movie, which females are the intended audience. The high percentage of males watching "Rings" also shows the interest of males for the genre horror.
